This documentary delves into the remarkable life of ceramic artist and author Fred Olsen, celebrated for "The Kiln Book." Olsen's journey spans from apprenticeships under masters like Tomimoto Kenkichi in Japan to studying with Pablo Picasso in France. Fred is also a resourceful inventor and architect, meticulously building his Palm Dessert home one room at a time. Despite his gruff exterior, Olsen is a nurturing mentor, generously sharing his wealth of knowledge. At 85, he remains active, cutting wood for kilns, guiding students, and even wrangling rattlesnakes. His extraordinary life and contributions to ceramics shape a compelling 60-minute documentary.
